How Our 1000-Ton Cooling Tower Works
A cooling tower comprises four primary components — the tower body, the fill material, the fan and the recirculating pump. The tower body is the main structure of the unit and is responsible for holding the water that needs cooling. The tower is designed to allow air to flow through it and cool the water circulating inside via heat exchange, during which some of the water evaporates.
The recirculating pump facilitates this process by circulating the water through the tower and over the fill material. The latter creates more surface area for the water to flow over, thus exposing it to more air and accelerating cooling. Meanwhile, the fan pulls air through the structure and over the water, drawing the heat out.
