How Our 30-Ton Air-Cooled Chillers Work
Air cooling refers to how a chiller rejects heat. Air-cooled chillers function by actively absorbing heat from the system's process water and transferring it into the atmosphere.
The process starts with the primary return bringing warm water to the chiller. The refrigerant gathers the heat in the evaporator, allowing the water to flow through the direct supply to the cooled space. The refrigerant moves through the compressor to raise the temperature and pressure before reaching the condenser.
Fans typically circulate external air through the condenser to absorb the heat from the refrigerant and force it into the atmosphere. The refrigerant then moves through the expansion valve and returns to the evaporator in liquid form.
Water-cooled and air-cooled chillers work in similar ways. While they both have nearly identical components, the main difference is that one uses air to fuel the condenser cooling while the other uses water.
Benefits for Our 30-Ton Chiller Rentals
Our 30-ton units are ideal for smaller applications suited for the chilling process. Selecting the appropriate size unit involves considering environmental factors, the target temperature and type of coolant, the heat load, and more. Some of the primary advantages of using our 30-ton air-cooled chillers include:
Cost-effective: Our chillers come in easy-to-install systems that save time and money compared to conventional cooling systems.
Low maintenance: One of the significant advantages of an air-chilled system over one using water is the former has fewer components and is much easier to maintain.
Energy-efficient: Air-cooled chillers are often easier to operate because they eliminate the need for a cooling tower. In industrial applications like construction sites, the heat expelled from an air-cooled chiller can recycle as a heat source.
No water required: Because air-cooled chillers do not need water to operate, they are ideal when applications have limited water supply or where water is ordinarily expensive. No water also means they hold up better in freezing temperatures.
Common Applications for 30-Ton Chillers
TCRS 30-ton rental units come equipped with two-scroll compressors and have a flow range of 45 to 100 gallons per minute. The unit weighs 3,320 pounds and measures 13 feet long by 4 feet, 3 inches wide, and 4 feet, 8 inches high. Typical applications include:
Plastic production processes
Turbine inlet cooling
